I finally finished up my magic bean bag, aka 'Rollie Pollie'. It's been on my to do list for a while now, and this past weekend I got to actually go to WalMart and get the stuffing needed to finish this up (I used the Poly Cluster Stuff to make the bean bag soft for my girl).
With the easy pattern and instructions from MADE, it took me about two evenings to make it. And that's considering how little experience I have with sewing!
The final product is great! Soft, comfy and lots of fun! My baby girl loves it, and jumps all over it every opportunity she gets!

Маша, а что за наполнитель? И можно инструкцию на русском ;) Она сшита из квадратов или кругов?
ReplyDeleteTi mozhesh ee napolnit', chem hochesh. Ya hotela myagenkuu dlya Soni, poetomu napolnila takimi polyesterovimi komochkami, kotorii v igrushki plushevie lozhut. No ti tak zhe mozhesh napolnit' spetsialnimi 'beans' dlya bean bags, ih prodaut.
ReplyDeleteInstruktsiu na russkom mozhno. Ya ee perevedu, i tebe prishlu, esli hochesh. :) Eto iz ovalov i krugov.
is that the Large size? or did you custom make it bigger? I can't wait to make one for each of my girls !
ReplyDeleteStephanie, this is a Large size. And my girl was 1.5 years old when this picture was taken. :)
DeleteI think it's a perfect size. She can jump on it safely, and she can grow into it more, and it doesn't take up too much room. I feel like a smaller size would be too small and bigger size would look giant and out of place in her room.
Love it! What did you end up using for fill? (If you used Cluster Stuff, how many bags did it take?) And how much do you think you spent on the project? I really want to make one, but am trying to figure out if I can squeeze it out of the budget right now! Thanks!

I just re-read your post, I completely glanced over that you did say you used Cluster Stuff, oops! So, yeah, how many bags did it take? And also, how much do you think you spent total?
DeleteThanks Sharalee!
DeleteI used Cluster stuff, about 8 bags of it, my Walmart had only 8 bags left :) But I had some regular polyester stuffing at home, so I stuffed a bit of that in the bag as well.
In total, I'd say it cost me close to $60. 8 bags of cluster stuff cost me $40, plus inner and outer fabric and zipper another $20.
I hope that helps. It is kind of pricey, but these cost a lot more when already made, and....to those who ask where you got such a great bean bag, you can proudly say "I made it!" :))
